School is out and it is hot outside. The John Simpson and Towne Square Pools are in great demand, not only by our Steiner Ranch Stars Swim Team, but by many recreational and lap users. This is a reminder that the Swim Team will be using the John Simpson pool exclusively Tuesday - Friday from 7:00am - 12:00pm until July 9th (Lap swim is still open until 8:00am). They will also be holding two Home Meets on June 3rd and June 24th, so general use of the pool will not be until those meets end, generaly around 2:00pm. The Austin Travis County Health and Human Services Department came out on May 23rd, 2006 and inspected our pools. They found that all the pools (large and baby) to have perfect Chlorine and PH Levels. Acceptable chlorine levels for pools should be between 1.0 - 8.0 and acceptable PH levels should be between 7.0 - 7.8. You can find daily postings of our levels on the bulletin boards at each pool posted by our contracted pool maintenance company.
Life guards will be on duty at the John Simpson Pool Friday - Sunday from 12p - 8p and at the Towne Square Pool Wednesday - Monday 12p - 8p and Tuesday 2p - 8p. Please remember that John Simpson is closed for cleaning on Mondays until 2:00pm and the Towne Square Pool is closed for cleaning on Tuesdays until 2:00pm. Please remember that the Life guards are there for a reason. They have the authority to close a pool for a variety of reasons, such as chemical imbalances or main drains not visible, etc. Let them do their job and understand they are keeping you safe. Our pools are crowded during the summer, but relief is coming. Plans are nearing completion for a third community center which will be located on Bella Mar Trail adjacent to the Belcara neighborhood off of Quinlan Park Road. This community center will include an 8-lane junior Olympic pool, a recreational splash pool and a tot pool, two tennis courts, a basketball court, playscapes, and two mulit-use ballfields, in addition to a community room and pavilion adjacent to the pool bathhouse. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and should be completed in March 2007. |
